Resolve Traumas

October 10th, 2017

I love working with trauma problems; I find it very satisfying.

It’s not uncommon for clients to be amazed that traumatic memories change more quickly than they imagined possible, and have minimal discomfort.

Below is a 9 minute video demonstration of a technique which I commonly use.  It is a teaching video, taking a lady through a process which resolves a long standing phobic response to a childhood trauma.  The therapist, Steve Andreas, possibly knows the details of the traumatic event, but does not ask in the video as it is largely irrelevant.  He is working with the ‘structure’ of the problem.  It is changed in this one short session.  Then below is a 4 minute interview of the lady 25 years later, sharing her report that the benefits lasted all that time.

Lori’s experience was a life threatening event and would have qualified for a label of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.)  There is more to resolving trauma than changing one or more memories, although these are often intrusive and severely disturbing.  There may also be problems of anger, grief, anxiety, guilt, regret, shame, self critical voices and more. There are techniques or processes that are helpful with all those problems.  Again, they mostly can be done with little or no content, which affords the client a great deal of privacy and comfort.

    THINK DIFFERENTLY

    .

PROBLEMS PERSIST BECAUSE THE SAME OLD THINKING IS USED
    .
    SOLUTIONS REQUIRE NEW THINKING
